mission statement

Ripple LLC creates neural interface and medical instrumentation products that advance research and improve lives of underserved patient populations, through thoughtful application of technology and design, with respect and in support of participating communities.

history

Located in the Sugarhouse district in Salt Lake City, Ripple LLC was founded in 2004 to commercially develop medical instrumentation and implantable products for small, high-need patient markets that have traditionally been too small to be serviced by larger companies. In contrast with many electronic-only design firms, Ripple LLC has the knowledge and experience to take basic instrumentation technology through to standards-compliant, FDA-approved medical products. The company has its own quality system for ISO 13485 and FDA QSR compliant design and manufacturing, and a strong local network of medical development and manufacturing resources in the Salt Lake area.   Ripple has close ties with the academic research community, and maintains a presence at scientific and neuroprosthetic conferences. The company also offers contract design and consulting services for clients who need to convert prototype technology into medical products that meet safety standards and regulatory requirements for clinical use.

focus

Ripple has active product development projects in three areas:

  • Neural signal processing and stimulation systems for closed-loop, real-time control in neuroprosthetic applications. These include bench top systems for basic research and compact wearable systems.
  • Implantable neural recording and stimulation devices for restoration of neuromuscular functions.
  • Small, low-cost instruments for diagnosis and monitoring that require specialized signal processing.
